Break the hurdles and establish equal presence in science

Equal opportunities in science are the idea of the same amount of representation of men and women. The representation of men is in a large number than women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Women have gone through several barriers and a lot of struggles to work parallelly with the man. In every sphere of science, especially in engineering and technology, the number of female students is not remarkable. Those who have entered the university and study engineering like computer science, after completing their undergraduate they face various obstacles to continuing their presence in these fields.

Now the question is why the representation of female students is not in the countable figure in computer science engineering studies and in the workplace. There are a lot of reasons given below that are responsible for that :

 

Stereotypes: From the history of science and engineering, it is a male-dominated area. In our society, there are a lot of stereotypes that are common that boys are superior in math and capable in engineering fields.Females are good at arts. That's why  female students of engineering in Bangladesh face barrier from their families and societies  that they can not do well in their profession and demoralize them to take science and engineering subjects as their higher studies.

 

 

Engineering culture: The workplace for computer science students is practical and research of this science is lab-based, and the number of exemplary female engineers and researchers is very low that's why those who study computer science and engineering are facing many challenges and are not willing to go into the workplace and research field.

 

 

 

Lack of interest: Sometimes female students face obstacles but sometimes they don't willingly choose any particular area of science. In engineering universities of Bangladesh, the participation of females is very low. That's why boys are dominating in demanding subjects like computer science and engineering. those female students got a chance most of them failed to go to the apex in their subjects. Absence of exemplary female computer science students unable to attract new CSE students in advanced science and research field. As a result, female CSE students can not dream of any advanced ambition in this field. Sometimes, the family doesn't support their girls will continue their studies or higher education in science.

 

Now the domination of males in computer science and engineering in universities would be balanced with female participation because parents and family members also society appreciate girls studying science and contributing to the industry. The government also promote university students to study higher as well as do research and work in the computer science job market. In recent times, there are a lot of females who established equal positions in both their workplace and research field and set the example for the new students to come in large numbers. That is why university Female students should be more interested in the subjects of engineering and create their own position with their own qualifications.

 

If any female students overcome all the external barriers but there are some barriers in their life that can not always be avoided. If a woman gave birth to a child, she needs a break and she was unable to maintain equal representation in science.

But technology comes as the savior to create equal opportunities in sciences, they will get advanced facilities by using technology. Nowadays female computer science students will able to work in software development, Networking consultancy, software management, etc through outsourcing and freelancing.

However,  if female computer science students are able to create exemplary persons who break all the barriers and mental biases and are determined to take equal opportunities, as a result, new students will inspire to increase the equal rate of participation in the workplace and research field in computer science and engineering.
