Two decades on, Jagannath University Still Waits for Students Halls

Students of Jagannath University have protested by demanding residential halls. They are infuriated by the lack of accommodation facilities, which creates difficulties for many students coming from outside Dhaka.  There are around 18,000 students in this university. But it does not have a single fully functional residential hall. That's why students are forced to stay in expensive rented flats and mess around the city, often far from campus. According to academic documents, Jagannath College was established in 1884, and then it was recognized as Jagannath University in 2005. Although the university has 11 residential halls, all remain under illegal occupation. While two of them are still habitable, no visible action has been t aken by the administration. A student of Jagannath University alleged that although a second campus was supposed to be built in 2018 , no visible progress has been made in the past six years except for land acquisition.  The student also claimed that ...
